need a new challange

hi,i live in england and have been a tree surgeon for 14 years and really need a new challange.i would like some info on work in the usa,i need to know what i could earn and what sort of lifestyle i could expect?any suggestions or contacts.

I am about to make a move the opposite direction.

It is hard to know what to expect in terms of money and what that will buy. Hopefully at least enough to starve on.

I am probably shoving off without an employment contract but I have a lot of contacts and know I will get a job.

Pay and life to expect are what get me the most. It is hard to say. I know EMPLOYED climbers that get from $14-$25/hr. That is a wide range. A lot of room between eating rice and beans or actually eating and living in something slightly larger than a coffin.

I guess what I came to is if you want to go, go. I know where my skill and education level is and what I can ask for without being unfair.

Worst comes to worst, I am bringing all my own gear and a few chainsaws. Been self employed for the last 3 yrs so that option doesn't scare me.

Sorry I can't be more help. Good luck either way.

PS - I can't recommend Texas for tree work. Wages seem low for the employed IMHO.

you must be brave or stupid to want to work in england!only joking but pick carefully who you work for.i used to work for a well known american company who came over and brought out a large tree company here(no names mentioned).all i can say is it nearly end in blood-shed between my crew and the so called managing director.i now work as a self-employed climber(mainly for the same bloke) in the south east.as for money well i earn between £450-£550 a week which is quite good(but then so am i).not sure what you will make of the type of work compared to in the states over here if you work in the private sector i hope you like connifer hedges as you may find this makes up about 35% of our work.could talk for hours on this subject but not long been home so if you have any questions or need a bit of help anytime drop us a line and i'll try to help.
