My First Video

Let the kids edit some and make sure they cut out all the one handing....oh no then you wouldn't have a vid to show ;-)

The mounting was perfect and the quality was also good.

Climb safe and try to keep both hands on the saw.

I am sure you will roll easier when you cut a hand or arm off.

Why do you expect slack when you break simple safety rules and negatively affect the industry? There is a reasons chainsaws are built with two handles and what ever excuse you have does not override the decades of safety improvements manufactures have made.

If thats how you roll you should also one hand the bigger saw at the end I reckon ;-)

Keep on rollin and try to do things the proper way and try to only one hand the chainsaw if really necessary, and you'll probably find out that's almost never......

But nice to see your vid and I sure hope you add some more and take our advice serious. No offense mate, I have also been there and done that !

Climb safe

No offense taken, and I trust you'll take none if I don't buy into the mentality that every cut must be made with two hands on the saw. Different strokes and all that...

Nothing wrong with one handing if you know what you're doing. I was more concerned with what appeared to be you using the pavement like a voodoo doll...which leads me to believe you don't know what you're doing, so perhaps you should use two hands.

I'd have bombed that on the pavement too. It was all small and the chipper was running. I don't like any ropes near a running chipper - climbing or rigging.

I'm not touching the one handing thing it's been beaten to death, resurrected, and beaten again. It's a personal decision. Your house, your rules.

I know with polarizing topics it's hard to keep things civil, but we can at least try, right?

This here is exactly why I've pretty much stopped browsing the buzz. People post great videos and members tear them a new one for any safety violation, no matter how large or small. Everyone in that video had hard hats on, safety glasses, etc. I will laugh in anyones face if they say they've never one handed a saw, we've all done it at one time or another, its perfectly safe when you know what you're doing and have half a brain.

I've worked with various crews traveling the eastern half of the US and generally, as long as everyone has a good sense of awareness and safety, things go very smooth, whether they enforce certain safety rules or not. Everyone wears their hard hats, glasses, and other safety equipment, but no one got yelled at if they one handed a saw.

Great video btw MisterSir, would have done it the exact same way, bombing stuff onto the pavement. I've never had a problem doing that, and I've bombed much bigger.

I stick around X, just don't post as much. Enjoy reading yours bro, you keep things interesting around here haha. Nice work on those X-Rings btw, getting some good reviews from some ppl I've heard from. Look forward to getting some here soon.

Bomb on the pavement. I bombed 12" wood on a pavement from 75' today. No worries.

The one handing issue is valid. Your right ranger probably most of us have one handed at one time or another. I'm not saying that there aren't time where one handing is safer, but it shouldn't be encouraged. If we don't point out the things that need to be improved how will we ever continue to further the safety of the industry? If no one ever spoke up about wearing chaps or hard hat we would never have progressed in those areas.

As soon as we become satisfied in our imperfections we stop progressing and improving. Thats where we open the door for accidents and injury. We need to be able to except and learn from criticism, knowing that others are only trying to help us better ourselves.

Its a well shot video. And other than one handing, seems like your doing everything right! What camera did you use? I'm looking to get one and am interested in what others are saying about what they are using.

I am continually amazed that people can make excuses for one-handed chainsaw use. Yes most people have one-handed, at one time or another, but this videos, other videos, and people's comments show that it is a continuous, on-going, safety violation. It is not the way we roll, its not a small safety violation; a person cannot overpower and control a chainsaw with one hand.

Remember the days when people refused to use seatbelts because they would trap you in an accident, they were dangerous, the driver knew better than the safety agencies? Two-handed chainsaw use is the standard; its violation should always be pointed out.

I am against censorship and will resort to creative lengths to get around it, but maybe we need to ban the word "one-handing" so we can NEVER EVER discuss this topic on the Buzz again.

We all know the rules and have each of us already decided how to conduct ourselves. My opinion doesn't matter to anyone except me and my actions matter only to me and my employer.

You are completely wrong. If you think your actions are strictly between you and your employer you forget their impact on the industry, insurance rates, government regulations, your family etc.

If you cut yourself wide open lets see who it impacts.

I bear a scars from a cut in 1984 that impacted me, my family, my employer, insurance, the hospital, ER doctor and nurses, physiotherapists, and the costs of health care.

You might assume I'm arguing in favour of it? I'm only arguing against not discussing it on TB any more.

I'm one of those who rarely 'one hand'. I've decided it's not smart for me to do it other than for exceptional reasons. I'm probably in the minority in North America anyway.

And you are right that an injury affects more than just me and my employer. But the discussions belong in safety meetings or training courses, not every time someone shows 'one handing' on a vid.
