My dog died today

Sorry for your loss.
Our current dog is a lab mix. He loves to go walking on a retractable leash, and when we walk out the door and down the drive, he turns and takes the leash in his mouth and walks me on the leash until the end of the drive, then drops his end and proceeds on eagerly.

The dog in the picture is another Sheltie dog that was a stray who turned up on the 4th of July, but was a mess, with matted and dirty long hair, and a bit of arthritis. Here he is with Dean after being washed and groomed. He did not last long with us, but at least had a good life for a couple of years.Rocky dog.webp

So sorry to hear this Treetopflyer. I feel for ya. Had to put down my beloved pointer bitch last spring and it was the hardest thing I ever had to do. Be glad for the time you had with him and, when the time is right, think about getting another dog. I think they love people even more than we love them.

Thanks Gordon, yeah Gunner wasn't much for a leash , he could gnaw through nylon webbing on his leash in about as long as it takes to stop and say hello to someone on a walk, afterwards he wouldn't even go anywhere , just look at me :payaso:. Had to go with chain links. Well sorta like my beloved bulldog bones..:)
Caleb, thanks man , may try to pass through down your guys way in a month or so . If I do I'd love to visit with y'all again..Much love bros! I gotta catch up with you either way . For some reason I couldn't access caring bridge with my email this past time. Good slow day for me , so maybe a phone call later if your around. I'm looking at some work today and scoping a truck to maybe to add to the fleet.

My friend, we have never met but I can assure you I feel your pain and I offer my condolences. I lost my boy 2 yr's ago on the 18th of Aug, time just took it's toll. He was 13 1/2 and the best friend I have ever had, knew what I was going to do before I did it, followed me everywhere. The last ride is very hard and I know while maybe not in front of folks the tears do roll. The pain isn't over, I found myself turning around to talk to him but he was gone and that is just another pang of grief. He stays right here on my desk and will till I go, arrangements have been made to take us both back to the spot on the lake of his first hunt. I'll tell you something that ya may call BS, when I returned home from the vet that day I got out of the truck and started walking around the building to the door, a low flying flock of geese came right over my head and started honking. I took that as a sign that he was saying I'm OK dad and I'll see ya again. I got another pup a couple weeks later and he has turned into a pretty good dog, but he is not the Bud Man. RIP "HR" BLACKWATER BUD 2/10/04-8/18/17

This thread is inspiring me to write a country song-

I was drunk the day my mom got out of prison and I went to pick her up in the rain

But before I could get there in my pickup truck my dog got runned over by a damned old Train.

That's not original to you or DAC haha

I'm glad you can find humor in it, ya F$c&*#g P%!$K. Write song about that!
Your reaction to my post is not my concern Nailer. What does matter to me is that Treetop understood my intent. If he didn't and was offended then I'm sure he will let me know, and I will surely offer my sincere apologies.

If your post was some sort of inside deal between you and the original poster, I will apologize for my post.

Nice Treetop. I had a feeling you would get the reference. Again condolences on the loss of your best buddy. Grieve for him, remember him, and be thankful that you knew him!
Were all good , maybe I could come out and meet floyd and your grove of giants one day.
