This is a big video

17mins and 84mb in wmv

Cut a long story short it's an interview with the victims who had part of the neibs tree that was being cut down by a crew smash their shed.

As it was raining at the time water damage also occured.

The company was uncooperative and over a month later have done nothing.

I discovered the story which had to be told, also it shows what can happen when choosing a so called large company.

Compelling viewing, show your customers coz this is real TV!

If you could edit that down to a couple of minutes with key points, it would be a useful tool Ekka.

Fortunately, round here, the local authorities are well aware of the risks from those that either have all the accolades, but employ 'Yeah Hahs!', or have 'qualifications' but little knowledge and experience.

The local authorities in the UK are being coaxed into only employing AA 'Approved contractors'. Whilst this accolade usually stands for an excellent office system and advice, there are very poor measures for in the field competence or policing. Those with experience know that.

For those that are about to start kicking and screaming, I'm not saying that all AA approved contractors don't do a good job! But that there is little to measure that they do (i.e the scheme is open to abuse).

Whatever the size of company, i feel its down to convincing those that matter of your company's integrity. Word of mouth is the best advert, from those that know a bit and have employed you or questioned you and witnessed your work.

I like the look on the lady's face after about ten long minutes. Ha!

Noisy danged critters down under, eh!

I tried to edit, I cut it down from 25mins.

We had to move from the backyard coz the neighbour started up an angle grinder and buzzing some steel.

There's a bit of controversy here coz this company is NZ owned and just bought out Smokey Flats Tree Co here to gain the Energex line clearing contract.

They're pushing hard into many markets so what a great time for an opportunity like this. /forum/images/graemlins/grin.gif

How does New Zealand muscle in on Australia's treework? Do they commute back and forth?

Ipower server crash today, now running again.

Kiwi's dont need work permits, visa's etc, they just come in. It is closer to fly to NZ than Perth.

10% of their population reside here, that we know about. Many do commute, only a 4 hour flight. They tend to employ their own.

Over the last couple of years there's been a lot of ex-forestry workers here, some speak of a collapse of their forestry industry others speak of an asian buy out.

Treescape is large player in NZ .... but that was coincidental to the purpose of the video and not discovered till the interview.

I woulda pellet-gunned those birds before I began the interview.

Shhhh!

hey Guys,
Treescape here in New Zealand are probably the biggest tree company here in New Zealand, they hold alot of contracts especially here in Auckland. They have alot of big gear and go for the quanity verse quality approach. They do alot of line clearance, land clearing and genral contract stuff but they do have alot of foresters working for them out of the bush, hence the rip, [what???] in bust approach... Just wondering Ekka how established are they so far in Aus? Are they solely line clearance at the moment?

Good report of a bad job. Unfortunately these sorts of actions and then inactions give arborists (and in this case kiwis) a bad name.

Cheers Rimu

OK, have some news.

The company settled direct with the customer for $2500 about a month ago.

They didn't make insurance claim, just wrote out a cheque, bit wierd but good news for them.

They have bought a new shed and replaced the water damaged gear and power tools.
