ms200t not running right

I'm working on two ms200t saws both with the same problem.
They will start and run once worm they wont idle and if you give it gas it will die. If I feather the gas I can get them to run wide open lots of power. Both saws have new filters spark plugs and carb kits. Any help would be great.

Thanks Mike

Yep, pull the screen if you haven't already but a clogged screen will keep it from giving you much power at FT so it might be the low mixture or idle... orrr something else.

And my Stihl guy says burn the carbon off with a torch and re-install. Uh Huh!

That's what he said!!!! The fire issue and the fact he was wearing the Corporate hat, he KINDA had to say that.

What I did was cut the screen section off, and threw it away. I then put the top portion back in and re-installed the screw. It didn't seem right to leave the slot and screw hole open, especially when it points close to plastic parts and meat!

I then had to re-adjust the idle. MAN did it make a difference. My 2 saws had over 50% of the screen plugged, small wonder they ran at all. The symtoms with one of my saws was just like Chevy described. I like to try fixing at the simplest end first, and work towards the guts (carb re-build) last.

Tinkering with small engines, especially 2 stroke engines, is a bit of an art form. It is almost mandatory to become efficient IF your gonna be in treecare long!

Don't let OSHA catch you guys running with out the spark arrestors in your saws. Big fines as of this year. And it is one of the things they are actually checking. Man. recommends burning off the carbon with a torch and reinstalling.

works quite well, get it glowing and tap it out on a hard object.

Sure, but why? Performance will slowly degrade again as the screen re-clogs.

I abide laws... sometimes... when I feel like it... and it's what I would've done anyway.

The dude abides.

IMO, 200T's are meant for in tree use, NO ground use! So they are far enough away from the crispy dry underfoot of the forests to be a threat.....

After the obvious.....filters and such......the impulse line would be my first look. I have seen bad impulse lines do exactly what is happening here.

Check your tank vent too.

I had a 200 do this right after fresh carb rebuild too. The inlet lever was just slightly lower then it should have been. Re-adjusted it a little higher and all was great and ran like a champ.
Otherwise you would have thought it had a impulse leak or even a seal leak. It was just flat out odd acting, but was a simple fix once inside the carb again.
