Moving a big tree with 500-ton crane

Her a pic from a job we did the week before Christmas. Transplanting a 35 ton Juglans regia over a distance of 55 metres. The tree was moved so they could build on this site.
Preperation for the transplant started two years ago. The job itself took 3 days

That is cool! There were several large trees moved in Toronto to accommodate a new development a few years ago. I think most died. I think that they didn't make it due in part to neglect in proper care after the transplant.

Good luck to those that will be tending this one!

Hello Willem, 2 years is a great lead in time...your soil profile always looks great over there, I'm sure its not quite a good as it seems to me.

Whats the lifting frame being used...pipes, box sections or smaller I beams on larger lifting beams?

I particularly like the ladder being lifted along with the tree and its root ball ;>)
