Most Extreme Thing...

Growing up in So Cal I was exposed to anything extreem and tried nearly all. I also did a mixture of sports.

I focused on skating (mostly street), freestyle biking, skiing, snowboarding, down hill skate boarding, mountain biking, free climbing rock, surfing, body boarding, body surfing, snorkeling, skim boarding, cliff diving, trestle jumping, and car surfing (yes I said car surfing).

Extreme stunts: sky diving at 13,000'. Bungee jumping at 100'.

Non-extreme sports: baseball, football, soccer, basketball, wrestling, karate, tennis, & golf.

****But, I would say the most caluclated risks came with the cliff jumping. I pulled off some crazy chet that only liquid courage would get people to do. Very easily I could have ended my life doing some of that. I was stupid young, cocky, and thought I was "hotter than hot poop on a silver platter"

One thing I want to do within the next 5 years is Speedflying. . Anyone want to join me?

I guess "extreme" is kinda relative, but looking at some of these posts I can't compete. I guess I never drank enough in my youth...so whatever I did I have no excuse.

Rode bulls for a few years, or tried to. Almost got killed twice. Once when I got bucked off into the chute gate. The other I overcompensated on one spinning to the left and went into the "well." Rear hoof came down and scratched the back of my neck.

Horseback chasing wild horses, stupid cows, and too smart burros at a speed in broken country you can't hardly ride in at a walk.

Worked with some horses who had major people problems (check out the movie "Buck" opening this weekend). Better at that then the bulls. Got dumped a few times "a-way back yonder" and almost got killed at least twice. But for the grace of God...

Yeah, sometimes I think back and get the chills about "what might have happened."

JAmin Sounds like we did a lot of the same things back in the day. Skateboarded from 8- 25 MY favorite sport ever! I used to skate with the pros down in New York city at the Brooklyn banks. I love that spot. Skateboarding reminds me of Martial arts the dedication takes. I still snowboard but I have toned that down some compared to a few years ago. I always loved Motorcycles street and woods. Free ride cross country and downhill mountain biking were a tone of fun, But a little expensive when you would brake parts on the bike. Tried surfing a couple of times that was a lot of fun. Tried bungee jumping at Action park before they shut down.
Now tree climbing gets my full attention

breaking/entering into buildings at night (teenager) like opening skylight on high gym roof; attaching rope and repelling. (a friend was too scared to come down, so i had to climb back up the single rope and convince him) shooting each other with fire extinguishers. We were never thieves, never believed in stealing anything or causing any damage, just fun.

Ha ha. Thanks for the memory X!
As teenagers we broke in through the ventilation system (not as cool as rapelling admittedly). I decided that doing some flips on the gymnast rings would be fun.

It went badly.

Twisted off and when I regained consciousness was being pushed around the gym on some trolley by the other kids. I couldn't breathe at first but worse... my hands and forarms were messed up. All tingly and shhoting pain. I couldn't use them.

Sneaked off home and went straight be bed to avoid talikng to the parents. My greatest fear was having to explain in the morning why I had no use of my arms. Must have gotten better over night tho...

One time we cooked up nitoglycerin in the lab. Spooked ourselves and got rid of it by burying it!

But BY FAR the stupidest thing I ever did as a teen was ride around in cars with boys! Probably guys like you guys!

Lots of kids did not survive that in our town. Lots of fatalities.

and you expect me to believe that? Great fantasy kid. go away.

80 percent of the people in this world are liars. (my opinion)

when someone you don't really know tells a sensational story with a lot of coincidence in it. 99.9% of the time they are lying. Especially if they are a younger person and feel like they need to produce a "good" story.

go and tell made up stories at some other arborist site.

Frax,

entered through a vent shaft once, but once inside the ceiling, the whole thing almost fell. ripped part way from the ceiling.

we hurried out of there and aborted mission.

I felt bad that some damage happened; but made myself feel better by thinking about that we just pointed out a really easy way for a thief to get into the building.

cool on the nitro too!

oh and someone hinted maybe drinking was involved in posters memories.

If i was drinking when younger, i likely would not be alive. I made a deal with myself when i was very young to never drink until i got older.

So, none of my "stunts" were ever done with alcohol, nor was any of my friends.

never had anything to drink until i was around 21.

a young adventurous mind with lots of energy did not need alcohol. Alcohol would have caused things to go wrong; I'm sure.

Dude lets go bombing!!
Well get a group of tree dudes to go up one night

Frax, helicopters are cool. Story of mine, slash pile burning with a helicopter, 500 feet above the weeds when a supply line to the jet failed, instant loss of power and, what the pilot called a "controlled" crash landing on a cut block road. Tossed out the skivies that day, swore off rotary wings forever.

Scary sh*t! Don't want to thru that again!

Our float plane pilot called copters '3000 parts flying in loose formation.'
We had plenty of iffy events - smacking tree tops etc. But it was my daily commute to my drop point and pick up point every day for 4 months.

PLowed snow for 85 hours once.. couple cat naps.. no caffeine.

Dove off a 90' cliff at Rick's Cafe in Negril when I was 16.. Wouldn't go out near the edge of that cliff after that..

Fell to sleep behind the wheel at highway speeds twice.. drove out unscathed both times.. The second time was '93.. fell asleep behind the wheel at night and woke up after daybreak...

That's nothing compared to having a baby... Once women become mothers they know in their bones that they've been initiated in a way that a man can never compare to..

Drove from Minneapolis to Dallas with only food, coffee, gas and pee brakes. About a thousand miles, 21 plus hours. The last 45 minutes were spent with my head out the window. I was too close, and cheap, and road-weary, to get a motel. I drove a little too fast through a small town in southern Missouri and got pulled over. The sheriff gave me a Christmas present...only a warning and an admonition to slow down.

Another road trip. Drove from Anchorage to Minneapolis with one over night sleep at a roadhouse in northern BC with hot springs. The rest of the drive my buddy and I would sleep and spell each other for driving. We walked through the Edmonton Mall at 5 am to get our legs under us. A Mountie stopped us in Alberta and told my buddy to drive a little slower too.

Climbed out on the boom of a tower crane on a 20 story building.

Up the 300 foot cell phone tower in Tobermory.

Got on top of a lot of school roofs to get tennis balls.

Skipping the sleds across open water up at the cottage. Both snowmobiles and GT Snow racers attached to snowmobiles.

Skitching rides behind my buddies cars on my skateboard.
