Who said we should have little to no central Government? Thats absurd and dangerous!!! I want a smaller Government than what we currently have. LOTS of fat in the current set-up.

I never claimed we were based on Libertarianism. I am saying we are the the best example of small government, silly as it sounds!, in the world. Look at other powerful countries out there, Germany, France, England, etc etc....all HUGE Governments!

I am afraid of losing what we have so we are "friendly and like everyone else".

You're expending a lot of energy on useless and ignorant posts regarding your support of the system and administration that crippled America, maybe permanently.

I'm recommending you more carefully study a broader understanding of the crisis, the attempts at fixing it, and the forces that created it. With your zeal, you could be a positive force for change, or not. You don't want change? That's your perogative. But don't blame the downfall on things you're just ignorant about. It's getting old fast.

please explain how 4 billion to ACORN, 2j. million to arts, etc etc etc is going to attempt to fix the mortgage crisis?

how about cutting capital gains and lowering income taxes across theb board so we have more money to spen and fix the economy?

Nobody has ANY idea how this is going to pan out. He's been in office a couple of weeks and instead of cooperating the Republicans are back at business as usual just fighting to win.
One thing IS for certain though, it was the Republicans and their 'No CEO left behind' policy who turned our economy into a used pinata.

so the new plan of 900 Billion is a better plan why? why not spend SOME of the money to give tax breaks and force the mortgage compnaines to ease requiremtns on mortgages? instead of tightening them like they have recently.

I feel, in this caswe, the GOP is doing good trying to get some of the fat trimmed in this bill.

On your last fantastic right/wing hate-monger claim: Leon Panetta was just appointed to head the CIA. He never even marched in ROTC. I believe he'll be involved in not just a few foreign policy decisions, let alone reading some reports you'll only dream about while waking-up with your sheets all wet.

You seriously need to refrain from the Tree Free Zone unless you have some recipes for Wolf Paw Stew, served with "poached" Moose tenderloin, on Baked Alaska, where Russia can be seen.

I can't tell you what i think about food stamps because I'm pretty conflicted on it.

On one hand I think $6 a day to 50 million American citizens is a tiny price to pay compared to things like war and bailouts. We have no idea how those people got to such a low place that they are so powerless that they can't feed themselves. I haven't been that far down but I've been waaay down and I can tell you, it can happen to almost anybody. One thing for sure, when life is that bad, money isn't the biggest problem... it's sanity. Think of the volume of stress someone has to endure to become that incompetent. People aren't born to be like that, we (society), make'em that way.

On the other hand, I think entitlements are a last resort for survival. They do nothing to lift someone up and get them back on their feet. So food stamps without employment assistance is a waste of lives and money.

I'm not schooled on the stimulus package, I think it's a bad idea. We can still do all the things we want to do with smaller, less comprehensive legislation. I don't think we necessarily have to act so fast... I think the turd's already hit the fan and we just have plug along and hopefully learn our lessons. Credit is bad; Accountability STARTS at the TOP, not the other way around; Borrowing money to loan it is a shortsighted business model; wars cost gobs of money; borrowing money to wage war is bad for our credit rating... blablabla. No shortage of lessons from the Bush Administration.

great post Blinky! I feel the same way about welfare, except that it is grossly overrun with idiots and cheats, and much the same about the stimulus bill. I would like to see it revamped and halved.
