This was today’s job, although only a morning really. A skinny beech tree in a back garden, pretty straight forward. This was Andrew Bennets job who you’ll see do a beautiful job with the portowrap, especially with the 19mm rope towards the end.

Gerry B, this ones on youtube so hopefully you'll be able to view it.

Last vid for a while, apparently I’ll be divorced if I continue to spend so much time on the forums…… so there you have it. Enjoy the footage, about 7 minutes.

Very good quality arb video. The guy running the Porty was very smooth, just what you need as a climber.

What kind of spikes are you using and with what pads?

That lever is part of Reg's "Block Driver".

Hey Reg, sit down-, looks like you almost nicked the rigging line about 3 min. in on the video.

Stand up. Great editing with the Radiohead, like how the heavy part comes in as the first big piece goes over. The raindrops... looked like they held off...for a bit, anyway.

It sure looks like a lot of that could be dropped, but I wasn't there so what do I know.

Good job on a tricky tree.

Nice work and nice vid!

On some of those cuts when blocking down the stem, it looked like you were only lanyarded in with no climb line back up. Is that how it is? and if so that seems alittle risky. what is your take on it? Maybe I'm wrong and you had a backup, just wondering.

Good work Reg! I like the lever. It looks effective for the larger wood. Hey, I got a question. When you are blocking down the larger wood I noticed the timber hitch after your half hitch. Why don't you use a running bowline above the half hitch? I think it would be faster to tie. Maybe I'm wrong. Maybe you just like it that way. Just curious

Thanks. The lever is handy for sure but a pull rope is still better for hinge cuts.

Grover, the pads and spikes are both Buckingham. The pads are Velcro but unlike my old ones are rigid and are a better shape which makes all the difference. They do a great job of keeping the spurs aligned. Well done Buckingham

TL, I'm pretty accurate with a saw but am often guilty of setting a bad example i.e. your observation.

Jamin, habbit I suppose. I'll use a running bowline if the surface-wood is fluted and there's a risk that the TH wont self trap.

Leon is right Cory, I meant to show the tie-in point in the video but forgot.

Butch, there were a couple of little sheds and a scattering of shrubs below which the camera doesn't highlight too well. Also, I'm still recovering from a real bad dose of flu so I simply wasn't well enough for any extra exertion. I hope to be much better by next week though.

Reg,

That really is a great video. I finally sat down and watched the whole thing. You really have a talent for steady camera work!

I like the slow motion hinge breaking at 4:10 and 4:21, great editing work, and the song worked really well with the removal, getting more frantic as the trunk came down.

Good work, and thanks for sharing!

Hey Reg how about making videos for some income somehow. Maybe for other arbs websites or training, you're sure good at it.

Thanks for the vote of confidence boreality, maybe I'll give it a go. Perhaps a DVD of the next 12 months, no more internet stuff this year.
