more climbing fun in my tree-training climb

Jersey,

The waist belt going slack is a combination of the bridge being under load and the harness shifting to a new position as you climb.

Choke your belt up before you climb then step off the ground onto your line and tighten the belt a bit further while the bridge is under load.

I always have had this problem no matter what harness I use.

Round about the 30 second mark in the last video I sensed the onset of arbor-rage in your voice. Arbor-rage can sometimes be a helpful tool when climbing, but it can also lead to high blood pressure and potential heart attack.

Try to stay calm and relaxed in the tree, I know this is not always easy, especially when you're trying locate a rope in a branch union. The knots look good.

Thanks Grover - I have a pic for you and will load it in the am - My new ride and Climbing shirt. Maybe you should get one. . . . .

The belt also needs to be tucked? on the Butterfly 2 it has that loop and the webbing end is turned back. should I also fold over and tuck under?

about the rage, i was attempting to hold the camera, wiggle the throw line and had the working line tied into a carabiner so I needed an extra hand. I have the end video where the throw bag, which was hung up on a small branch, once i flipped the working line and the throw line, was in my hand, I was SO PROUD. . . . . BUT the video will not load.

My BP is 104/68 (normal) and my doctor is happy to see that i am exercising, Do not tell him what i am doing. . . . he thinks I am only riding my bike tens of miles each week (average 50)

Again I am happy to share and provide you all little entertainments as long as you all will continue to give this newbee hints.

THANKS to all

Wow! that's one big grover!

Never used the BF2, don't really know about the belt buckle tightening, sorry.

Fun climb documentation there. As you've found out white oak bark is extremely grabby on throwlines. My last climb in one consisted of a throwbag rescue.

All B2 harnesses have the waist belt buckle adjuster slippage problem. Once you have the length right for your waist you can sew a couple of stitches to pin down the tail of the webbing (Nick's good suggestion). Or you can double it back through the buckle (what I did). It's a tight squeeze through the buckle but doable. I think the original design theory was that the little black plastic slider was intended to cinch up and prevent slippage but it doesn't work for me.

Same goes for the back straps that position the leg straps, they slip too. Those are much easier to run the end of the strap back through the buckle to stop the slippage.

And yes it's true, the leg straps around your thighs loosen too, I doubled those back through their buckles as well.

Forgot to mention, great to see Teddie the dog under the tree in the video. He once guarded the base of a tree that I climbed, such a good dog. Please say hello to Genevieve for me. Hope to get down there for a visit one of these days.
