Morbark tornado 13

deevo

Been here a while
Hey guys just seeing if anyone's running of of these ? I am trying one tomorrow it's got 700hrs on it, good shape, 110hp Cat, I currently run a bc1000 and bandit 65xl ( for island and backyard jobs ) pros / cons?
Thanks in advance!

We run one, a 2004 with a Deere engine and its up to about 2500 hours. It has been the back up chipper to our late 90's 2400, but for the last 18 months or so it has been our primary chipper since the 2400 just doesn't pull / crush brush nearly as well. We have been working the 13 just about every day on Dead EAB ash removals and It does fine. It will chip everything up to 8-10" real well, the 10-13" stuff will chip, but with the ash we really try not to push it too much. It pulls and crushes brush great, has hydralic down pressure, and we have a winch on ours as well. Our only issue, at times it doesn't throw chips great, but if the knives are sharp it does well enough.

I run an 03 with a 125hp Perkins. What Graham said and it is heavy. 7700 lbs. Will plug up sometimes with wet stuff. I feed it with a mini. Massive brush bunches. I love it.

Thanks guys! Well the chipper was awesome .... Very powerful and ate brush and logs like nothing ! Only thing was when it got dropped off the Vermeer person didn't know much about it ( was a trade in) they left, we got it running, chute wouldn't swivel, call to morbark USA resolved that issue, and the chute flap to make the chips go up and down was missing, battery was dead ( had to boost it was fine for the rest of the job) tires need replaced. No biggy. Made my bc1000 look like a bit silly. Ate the spruce logs, willow and ash with ease, I am very impressed and will likely buy it if they deduct what work it needs done. Only thing I am worried about is service and support, I called the only morbark dealer in ontario got his answering machine which mailbox was full, called all day( it's his cell phone) no luck. If anyone else has any other numbers for the morbark people in Ontario please share, this is the deal breaker!

So what happened Deevo? Buy or pass? Price?
Oh I bought it alright ! Only has 611 hours. Has the Perkins 110 not the Cat. Asking price was 14500 I paid 13000. We demo'd a brand new bc1500 for a week and all my guys liked the morbark better ! I am planning on adding a winch. The things a monster and hope to have many good years with it ! I'm keeping the bc1000 for a backup as well as my bandit for small and island jobs. Although I'm on the hunt for a grapple/chip truck now though!
