monster

The Eastern Ellipito Mussel (common all over the north east freshwater areas has a portion of it's lifecycle where it's a parasite on many fish species. Makes them look like they are covered in black pepper. Also on a semi-related note... they're edible... BUT they taste absolutely horrible!

Tasting horrible is definitely an adaptation that works! So is tasting good. Sort of depends on the nature of the organism. I recommend a documentary by Michael Pollan called "The Botany of Desire" which deals with this subject in a very interesting way.

I drink a lot of these ones on work days. Zero sugar, 300mg of caffeine per can.
Between these, coffee, and tea, my daily caffeine intake is usually around 1.5 grams.
Reason is because of swing shift. I work 7am to 7pm for 4 days, then get 4 days off, then 7pm to 7am for 4 days. Once or twice a week I’ll go in 4 hours early or stay 4 hours late, and often pick up 1 or 2 twelve or sixteen hour shifts on the days off. Still leaves some family time and time to do tree work, but it’s difficult to get a normal sleep schedule, and the plant job with DuPont is a high hazard process, large volumes of different hazardous materials and lots of things that can go wrong if the operator isn’t very awake and aware of everything. It’s hard sometimes. So yeah caffeine for me.
Days off and days out doing trees I’ll have one A-shoc drink and maybe some coffee.
