Minneapolis Trampoline TREE Fun(d) Climb

Another happy, sweaty group from the first day. We haven't really accomplished much except to do a years worth of preparation. That, and stretch 64 springs into position around the perimeter.

After the day of hoisting the Trampoline, which was a 12 hour day, an additional day was spent levelling & reinforcing. The donated CMI slings & blocks were positioned to stretch the net into proper position.

I was not there that day, as I had an important date with the Top Notch Tree Care crew working on some 10" deadwood in a very raspy Box Elder.

If you count the day of the event, plus the takedown day on Saturday, we are talking 4 days of climbing for this event.

3 boats brought climbers & docked at the site. The site was mowed with the Gehl articulating loader (my second attempt driving a tractor, ever). A porta-potty was rented. All this for a bunch of party happy climbers. We are thankful for the MSA's efforts on behalf of the TREE Fund.

So what is the point of the trampoline? Just for kicks?

TREE Fund Safety program

We charged admission for this climb. The Tree Research & Education Endowment Fund is a registered 501(c)3 non-profit foundation that gives grants & scholarships for tree safety research.

We feel that the accident rate resulting in an arborist being killed every 6 days in the United States is unacceptable.

Arborists who make their living from the results of the research developed from this 15 year old foundation should give back some of the profits made possible by the TREE Fund.

Bruce Smith & cousin Scott provide the answer to what type of ground support true buddies can give.

MB, the idea of the tramp is to have a lite weight platform aloft. Other platforms have been made, but they are quite heavy and a general pain to setup. A group of people ate dinner on the tramp, the rest of the time it was just for walkin around on, not boucin!

MB - Like you said for Kicks. I know somebody tried to start the 60' tramp club - but she dumped him at the last minute, I'm not sure if its been done . . . Johnny?
