minimalist footwear anybody?

Has anyone found any climbing boots that could be called minimalist, such as is in the current fad of running. These would have a very low heal, very flexible soles and large toeboxes so that your toes can move around. The runners like them because they are supposed to mimick being barefoot and let the bones and muscles in your feet work the way they are supposed to be able to do.
A few years ago I was in Jamaica and saw a local guy climb 50 feet up a tree trunk, (no branches or limbs to climb on) like a momkey or a squirrel, using only his hands and feet. And he was barefoot. I was impressed
Are there any boots on the market that are flexible, and yet sawtooth proof, that anyone has any experience with?

Thanks Fred

La Sportiva boulder X mid are great. They are super minimalist, pretty bombproof.

I got a second pair. Still have the first but will say, as the salesgirl told me, the rubber soles don't last as long as a conventional sneaker if worn all around. Which I do. I wear them constantly due the comfort. They are exactly what you want in tree in order to limbwalk. Plus the leather don't tear. And the fit is much like a sock. Go for it.

I live in the city so I walk on concrete a lot.
