I got my truck and chipper stuck in the mudd at my house a couple months ago. My neighbor saw me and came over in his mini tractor. It's a John Deere 2320 . I looked at him like he was crazy because all together my truck and chipper weigh 15,600lbs. His mini tractor weighs 1,660lbs. Well, he was pulling on dry land and he didn't have a problem. I was impressed!

Has anyone ever considered one of these for tree work? Since I saw this thing pull I decided to visit John Deere's web site. It has impressive lifting capacity, you can get turf tires(it won't tear up grass), 4WD, and reasonably priced.

I have 1.5 acres and this would be helpful to mow weeds down, clear snow in the winter, and help me with lifting/loading logs on jobs. It would serve two purposes for me, which is an attractive benefit for me.

The only limitation is that it is too wide to fit in a 36" gate

However, there are limitations to nearly every piece of equipment because each job for us is not always the same.

What do you all think?

we use a kubota tracktor similar in size and it lifts everything we need lifted but no turf tires, soon though, that thing yanked our bucket truck out of the mud just by using the hydrolics on its bucket (keep chain tight, put the diggin bucket into the ground straight up and then curl back, you know the drill) i used to use a skid steer but those things are very limited because of how horrible they are on turf, the name says it all.

ps, watch out for those john deeres, they are great tractors but the hood is made of plastic, a friend of mine has one for his company and loves it but one day an employee of his flipped a log out by having the bucket tilted back to far and it shattered the hood, the kubota we have has taken a thousand beatings like this and is still cookin, good luck

In the mid eighties I was working for a guy and he bought a new Ford 1510 with a 770 front loader,4 wheel drive and turf tires. That thing was incredable!!We could unpin the bucket and pin on a set of forks for loading logs and he built a cool box to mount on the 3 point hitch that had chain slots that we could use to raise logs and skid them when needed. He also had a pintle hook set up on the rear attachment for moving equipment around the yard.He bought a Vermeer 630A for use with the tractor when the 2465(remember those?) was to big to get into places. He still uses the tractor today at his house and he has taken care of it so you can see that the life span of the investment is a good deal.

They're nice and I've used them but I personally feel their a tad underpowered and you really need a larger lifting capacity. 35hp-45hp is the size I would use, then get a dingo for all those tiny yards.

Some good input guys.

I have a landscaper friend who bought a Dingo TX525. We exchange services and he has let me borrow it a couple of times now. I give him referrals and land him jobs, so he has no problem with letting me use this Dingo. However, I don't want to abuse my welcome.

So, I may hold off on purchasing a mini-skid or mini tractor. I am just feeling things out right now.

I'm wanting to buy a TX525 narrow track with 24" trencher, bucket, and auger set up. Any feed back on strength and weeknesses would be appreciated.

I bought a Kubota BX2670 last year primarily for tree work. Turf tires. Bought a land pride grapple as well. Absolutely love it. Takes care of picking up large heavy pieces and also can pick up the piles of small stuff. At home I use it for moving the wood and debris around, mowing and shoveling snow. The John Deere was more money just because the paint.
