Measuring gaff length

It's too late to call Buckingham to get the answer so I'm going to ask TB to do my homework.

I've been climbing on B'ham steel, twisted shanks spikes with full wrap Velcro pads for a long time. They're comfortable enough for the time I spend on spikes. Now, I need to order a pair for work.

When I measure my spike from the underside, tip up to shank where it bolts on, it measures about 2.25 inches. That;s much longer and shorter than the two listed on TreeStff:

Gaffs

What's the official way to measure gaff length?

Buckingham measures the bottom of the gaff from the tip to where it meets the shank of the spur. Sorry pic doesnt want to load. In the catalog they just have a ruler held to the bottom of the gaff they slide it up to where it touches the shank, then take their measurement at the tip.
