Many Journeys

That's some funny stuff you got going on there with that hitchclimber setup, Ben. I paused several times trying to figure it out. Gave up.

Beautiful work, as always, and an awesome tree.

thankyou Jeff, that was a stellar day out , the kinda day you start to get excited about sitting in the car on the street waiting for the crew and going please let it be that one :sorprendido3:
the hitch climber set up ? are you referring to the X-ring incorporation ?

Strong climbing Ben. Solid! Nice rope work from the ground crew. A viewing pleasure. I too am intrigued by the climbing setup... is the hand ascender supporting a foot loop?
thankyou John :)
if you can not spurless climb big spread out Eucs then you should probably not be climbing in Adelaide :D
the kong ascender is attached to a length of beeline and then to a mighty mouse krab.

if I could splice directly on then I would have a neater finish but that will come.
the idea was from last years Sherrill / NATS seminar with Mike Dirksen here in Adelaide.
He discussed raising your bridge focus by putting it above you on ascents with some kind of tether to change the usual centre point from around your waist to up at nipple height , (my current harness doesn't have a adjustable bridge)
then the pull down on the hand ascender is more ergonomic for the body not so much humping the rope but staying closer and more upright.
I find it to be very efficient in its use of energy and def smoother when combined with a foot ascender or foot / haas system, that bit of kit lives on the back of my harness now ,
it also works in really well with my X-tender hitch set up.

I find the hass/foot ascender combo keeps me pretty upright... no adjustable bridge either. Some of the crew says I'm cheating :p... more like cheating the ravages of years in the biz :fuckyou:! I'm in the tops while they hip thrust 10' of the ground :loco:.
