Making A Pulley Saver ???

You guys that have made a Pulley Saver using a Pinto Pulley what size is the eye for the pulley and what are you using to keep the loop opened?

I got a Pinto Pulley from Sherrill and had a piece of Bee Line grizzley spliced onto the pulley. I am thinking this may have been a mistake as the bulk of the grizzley splice may cause hangups on the soft eye during retrieval.

I used around a 12 inch eye. I used a piece of rubber tube that is completely solid that I got from my gf's dad. Can't remember the diameter.

Just add some tape to make a better slant. If you know what I mean.

Got some pics of mine. Now finally finished.

I used some rubber fuel line 5mm external diameter in my eye. Then rubber hose pipe over the top. My eye is 12" in circumference too. The spacer is a Petzl ultralegere pulley wheel that fits perfectly width wise. Just had to trim it down so the retrieval ball would fit through. I would think grizzly splices might make retrieval a bit tougher.

Shackle? Boat shops!

Looks like a cool ropeguide, nice with the big ring. How does the splice go for the second leg on the pinto because obviously you cant do another locking brummel?

BenR , I did a single braid eye splice ( lock stitch ) and it seems to work good for me... I now Nick has other ways of doing this , but I been having bad luck on hooking up w/ Nick .. All good

Ficus , I also use it like a two ring - friction saver ..

Its a rigging ring 3" steel tensile strength 30,ooolb..

I do a lot of palms out here in SO-CAL and it works great and easy to remove ,,
