I think I am actually losin' brain cells typin' in this thread. The Stihl term "Magnum" has been around a lot longer than Clint Eastwood movies, or Tom friggin' Selleck.
Spend some time out here in the Pacific Northwest and you'll see firsthand why the longer bars even exist.
And it looks like the rear AV rubber needs replacing TreeCo!
The 038 Magnum was marketed and sold in UK in the eighties; a powerful (70cc) saw built to last, popular with UK farmers (stihl dealerships were run through a national agricultural store called Burgesses)and heavier than lead compared to the 044
