Made in China

Location
NJ
I had bought some plywood from Home Depot the other day to build some cabinets and noticed it said made in China. I was allmost ready to take it back. Is everything being shipped over seas these day to be produced, even our lumber?

What's weird is that most all of our professional fireworks are made here.

'Tis a matter of time when we repay our national debt by being shipped over there to dig tunnels and build railroads...driving one spike at a time.

But hey, don't disparage the governing elite - obey everything they ask of us, without question, and proudly die for their interests. We're number one, remember that.

I delivered some hardwood saw logs to a mill in backwoods north carolina and they said the lumber goes sttraight from the mill to china. think about how much you paid for those cabinets. nothing. there is no way you can live in this society making cabinets for the average person. For the very rich yes. there is no furniture industry in NC anymore whereas even 30 years ago it was a center of furniture and textiles.

I feel that we are more of a service industry than a goods producing country anymore. Just a photo of two of ten cabinets I built over the weekend for our office. At least the front faces and doors will be made from red oak of trees I've cut down. Now that's some satisfaction!

I was pretty shocked a while back when I was about to buy some catfish and noticed it was from China... CATFISH FROM CHINA?
WTF? It was unfrozen. How can that be cost effective?

Those clamps are great aren't they? what would we do without those clamps, bet they were Made in China.

Thats gotta be one of the tidiest workshops ever. Where's the sawdust?

Make sure and post a pic when you've finished.

Forget about cost effective. What about safety. Seems to be little to no quality control in Chinese goods. What kind of weird waste products do you think they're feeding those Chinese farm raised catfish? Yummm, melamine.

Thanks for including Ireland in the Norwegian Empire, we haven´t had any say there since the Viking age - but who knows - we might be back one of these days...

Grover, Finally got the upper cabinets hung on pinch blocks. Still have to line them up a little and screw them together. Working on the face frames for the bottom cabinets. Should have that done and posted tomorrow. Do you like the wallpaper boder in the backround. Tree leaves with latin ID. Also still have to make the raised panels doors.

Excellent!!

Wallpaper background looks good. What type of wood did you use for the facing boards at the front? Mahogany type? Obeche?

Very professional looking job.
