Looking for help regarding cabling hardware size

Location
Maine
Hello,

I am wondering what determines the necessary size of hardware being used when cabling? I have been using the diameter at the union of the limbs to be protected to determine hardware size but recently was reading ANSI standards on this and according to the chart given in the booklet it seems like it should be determined by diameter of limbs at anchor point (which I am assuming is at the area of cable installation).

Thank you!

There is a BMP that is very helpful.

I've always understood that it is the size of limbs being supported. What's important about the point where a cable is installed is whether that diameter is large enough to provide the support needed.

But I looked at the A300 and see what you mean. That's top, BMP below. They use different language "point of attachment"
