The foam broke on the inside of my Kask,so im in need of a new helmet.
Wondering if anyone has opinions regarding the new kask or the new Petzl.

I tried on the new petzl vertexs at this past TCC in Maine, and while i have no experience with the kasks, ill definitely be picking up a new one when funds allow. Lighter and the fit is MUCH improved over the old ones. Im pretty excited about it.

Contact Kask first to make a claim under warranty. The new version is much better.

That is, if the foam didn't break from a whack upside the head!

I've had a prototype version of the new Kask since last winter. It is comfy and NO foam cracks either. When I put it on the helmet doesn't wiggle around on my head.

When I'm not wearing the Kask it goes in the toolbox on my Gator. The faceshield doesn't have any scratches on it even after all this time. When it goes in the toolbox I'm pretty careful about keeping the faceshield away from things that could scratch it. Even so, most eye pro does get scratched, but the Kask faceshield is still fine.

Yeah bro the alveo ROCKS! Never thought I'd wear anything other than an ecrin. I've got the kask too its good but heavy. You don't even know you have the alveo on.
...Jeremy's spoken...!!! See ya friday bra!

I hope my question doesnt hijack the tread. What do you guys think about Suspension vs. Foam (Vertex vs. Alveo/Kask)? Is this another of those things that is personal preference, or depends on type of work, climate/temperature, etc? Right now I just have a cheapo hardhat and really want something a little nicer for the summer.

The Alveo DOES have shutters on the vents. It is lighter than the Vertex also. The only other difference is that the vertex is a suspension hardhat, and the Alveo has foam inside of it. Does any one have a preference? I have yet to try either of them...

the avleo doesnt have shutters on the vents i have been climbing in on for a couple months jimmy and i love it. it fits alot better then my vertex and is ultra light. alveo definately gets my vote.

I've been using Kask helmets for a while. The suspension is comfortable especially the new version.

The weight difference isn't noticeable compared to an Ecrin. Comfort is noticeable.

The faceshield is soooooooooooooooo nice! The gold faceshield will be on the market soon...Jedi Arborist!
