Log splitting in the New York area

I have been doing contract log splitting for years; due to the "competition", if you know what I mean, it seems the money has gotten thinner. What is a fair price with a hydraulic unit in expensive high population parts of the US in your opinion?

Well, I think most tree guys want to make more than customers want to pay; they don't want to pay more than the going rate for firewood, I have been doing substantial stump wood splitting for a few hundred dollars a job, which could be a cord to 3 cords. Foreign labor; they like to work with an amigo and make "a million pesos" for these jobs as a customer told me, so I usually get the job, not sure what they are really worth....

I did a job for a guy in NY yesterday, log splitting and saw work, quick cash; the guy had a likely illegal working earlier and we talked about that, what they have done to the labor markets in the NY area. I have a part time job at THD, and they have a lot of people on for $12 an hour and 16 hours a week, a buck more than Walmart, and we have to do a lot of heavy lifting. Plus in a recent review they said that all the workers needed to start generating leads for roofing, HVAC, etc.. They are only brokers anyway to contract labor.
