we have gotten straight line wind events that can take down mature 24" oaks by the root. A client asked me to assess this maple. I am curious how some of you might rate this tree.
This is a picture of the target area if we got a wind event off the lake which is to the left of the picture. You can see the maple in question off to the left.
Here is a closeup of the trunk. The house is over my back left shoulder. The lake is directly in front of me ( I am facing the lake while taking the picture. ).
The story is the home has recently changed hands. The home owner has no history on the tree for the area. Based on the structural deficiencies And the large diameter deadwood of which there are a lot what would your diagnosis be? Would you have any other questions for the homeowner or Are there any others things that you would attempt to research and find out?
Reduce deadwood and cable? Is that your thought? they park under the treee and I don't see how I can convince them to keep the tree without telling them the posibility of car damage would be very high.
