line runners

I believe sherrill sells a steel snap clip with a captive for web sling called a line runner. its 25 kn , but just a spring loaded gate.

I use these once in a while for speed lining down limbs. Does anybody know if there is a standard for biners when rigging ? . Can you actually use them for ropping off limbs and such, being there not a screw gate or locking ?

There is nothing in the ANSI Z133.1 2000 regarding biners for rigging. Just be aware that non locking biners can "roll out".

I have read before that the vibration of the rope running through the biner could cause the gate to open drasticaly reducing it's strength. Seems odd to me but it does happen (so i've read) /forum/images/graemlins/confused.gif.
