LIGHTNING

I could most likely write an entire book about lightning and the damage it does.
I'll just use two examples. The first is a soft maple that once was in my stepsons yard. The poor old 65 foot tree had been hit at least 3 times in as many years, caught fire once. All the smaller limbs looked like they had been in a curling iron. The bark had been blown off one side up to about 35 foot up.I had to disassemble that old dawg to get it down, with only about 30 feet clear to drop it.It took me about 2 part time days but what the heck,I'm a wrench turner not a treeman.
The second happened last summer.A freak fast moving front came through.A bolt of lightning wizzed by me as I stood in my garage looking out. With it came a mighty roar as it hit something about 500 foot away.Shortly afterwards my wife informed me the phone was not working.
How pray tell that hot shot passed amoung a bunch of big oak trees and hit that undergrond junction box is a mystery to me.Weird stuff,I'll tell ya.
