I took down a huge , lightning struck White Pine tree today . The tree was hit last summer , split , top to bottom. The tree was still green so the homeowner kept it up . It looked real bad , so he finally
decided to have it removed. I used a 75 ft. bucket , and a 36 ton crane. No problem , basic one two. I was cutting out ten foot sections , because the homeowner was going to mill them himself. I measured each cut . The top three were weighing in at between 2300 - 2500 . As I got lower , each section was getting lighter . I cut the last section at about twenty five feet long to the ground , it had to be two feet wider in diameter and it weighed 3500 . I would've took some pictures but I was told my phone camera pictures suck . The tree wasn't hollow either , just real dried up. The crane guy was baffled. I bet it wouldn't have been much longer till that tree failed.
