That's quite a collection, though I must admit some of my first stumps were worse than some of these. The first and third are definitely worse than almost anything I have ever seen or concieved of doing.

Some landscapers did some work for this guys neighbor and said they could take down the tree in the pics for this customer. The customer went on Vaca and came home to see this....
Then he called us.

@Mowerr
Yikes. How did it feel to see that from across the yard and walk up to it? Hard to tell how much of that was cut up from the photo
Did you cut a notch above that mess?

A beaver would have done a better job.
If it wasn't for the other horizontal slices, it really looks like the top half that was done by a beaver.

Suppose they were trying to get a small enough diameter that they could fell with a tiny saw????

These are some more views as I circled the tree. Very much like they studied beaver tree take downs...yes I think we chucked a rope on it and put the notch above it

Local phone company, which are tree huggers and didn’t want to remove the tree because that wouldn’t be ‘green’ so instead they had this done.IMG_2571.jpeg

This seems to be the norm around here with these crepe myrtles. Always wondered why every winter people had the tops of these lopped off. I guess to promote an explosion of floral growth in the spring.
I don’t like doing that to crepe Myrtle’s but I did it once. It was way too big for its spot and they needed to see their kids in the pool from the deck, kitchen, and dining room. It’s now down to a level they can maintain yearly. Even though Myrtle’s are akin to weeds and there was a good reason, I felt dirty for doing it.

I know there’s more of these pictures stored in my phone but this was readily available. Sometimes I drive through a neighborhood and see 20 trees hat racked. I’ve removed quite a few large previously topped trees and they are not easy, especially when rigging is involved. It’s nearly always the 60+ year olds who become afraid of the big tree and pay good money for “the man” to come and “make them safe”.

All in one neighborhood. There was plenty more though. Bad trims and lots of topping. Most taken from the vehicle.
