In honour of the big day tomorrow for my friends south of the border, I would like to present the following essay "Let Us Now Try Liberty" which is an abridgement of "The Law" written in 1850 by Frederic Bastiat. This book helped tremendously to clarify my thinking regarding the concept of legal plunder, the proper role of government, and personal responsibility. I can only hope that it provides some needed perspective in troubled times.
