A 32-year employee of the Ingham County Road Commission and Leslie resident was killed Tuesday when he was accidentally hit by a truck, the Ingham County Sheriff's Office said.

Thomas James Doyle was 54.

Doyle was working near the intersection of M-52 and Swan Road, near Stockbridge, when he was struck by a Road Commission truck while the driver was backing up, according to a news release from the sheriff's office.

Police are not releasing the name of the driver.

Efforts to reach Doyle's family and Ingham County Road Commission officials were unsuccessful Tuesday night.

Neighbors described Doyle as a "good man" and said they were shocked by the news, but declined to comment further.

In October, Charles "Chuck" Gibson, an employee of the Jackson County Road Commission, died after he was struck in the head by a dead tree he was cutting down in Hanover Township.

Another Jackson County Road Commission worker, Terry Wheaton, 47, of Brooklyn, died April 3, 2006, after cutting down a 60-foot tree on Liberty Road in Liberty Township. The tree fell on him, causing massive head injuries

Never mind I found it.

According to a story in the Lansing State Journal, workers had just dumped a load of asphalt on a section of Swan Road when Thomas James Doyle, 54, was run over by a truck that was backing up to level the blacktop.
