lava splice

I am going to try my first tachyon splice. Just to get off on the right foot is a lava (tachyon) the same as a double braid splice?

Lava I thought was just a color version made for Sherill but I also thought that both were a triple braid of some sort. Might try the New England site or possibly Moss will look in. I think he played with it some time ago. Good luck.

Here ya go Bob.

I started one with Lava awhile back and gave up. Used rope. I would've gotten it sooner or later but reading the instructions while doing the splice takes so long. I do much better when I go by memory.
If memory serves, it was pretty close to a double braid, but like rockettree says there's that inner core to deal with. That creates an extra step or two. Good luck. Post pics :)

The rope is pretty new maybe 10 climbs. I bought a new rope (the color bug bit me) and was going to sell the other rope. Seeing I spiked it once at about 15' I decided to cut it up myself and try to splice a lanyard out of it. I have gone over the splicing instructions but was wondering if Nick's blue moon video is on the right track to splicing tachyon? (He makes it look real easy till he gets to the missing part two which I have witnessed live) I have seen a splicing demonstration on imori (thanks to oceans) and realize it's going to tough but none-the-less...

According to published info on Knot & Rope Supply Inc. Blue Moon and Poison Ivy are the same rope. I've also read that Luna is the same as BLM and PI. nice ropes.

Well here she is. Not real pretty but it'll hold for sure. I have many blisters from wrestling with this rope. There is a burr where the tail exit whole was but it's not cut in any way. Criticisms welcome.
The throat is hard as a rock.

Nice Bob! Now you know the pain, huh?

Looks like there could be a little more taper as it goes from thick to thin pretty quick but that could also be some bunched up strands.

Not as bad as falling into a lava flow but something like that.

Beer would be good right now but I just got home at 9:00 and I am bushed. Maybe manana.

I'll hold you to that, btw, thanks for doing the cat rescue in my stead!
Oh and see if you can find some Dog Fish Head Sah Tea. We polished off the half growler of it last night.
