Largest tree in jersey.

[I'm not the type to have an ego. It's just not me.
[I'm damn good at what I do and I work very hard to keep up. That's why I am where I am in the short time I've been climbing]

Listen to yourself dude.
I know you feel the need to defend yourself, but really listen to yourself.

Look in the mirror and recite those words.
Then ask yourself why Bob Wolf writes what he writes.

It certainly isn't because I am trying to be mean.

I have read all the posts.
This may not be my place but I am only trying to keep you grounded dude.

I have made an attemp to follow this thread. I have not read all of the posts but I did feel some conflick. Here's how I see it. From the pics I would have done things different. Keep in mind I have my crew, my equipment. It seems the tree closest to the building could have been rigged into the other tree, for the most part the wood. From the pics could this job be done in one day with a 3-4 man crew I would think so. Now I go back to when I had 3 years of climbing under my belt, I was still pruning not doing challenging removals. Lets all do our best and be carefull! One of my mentors would always say " Good job, but what did you learn!

Hey Todd. I did use the other tree to rig from man. Only wood though none of the tops

Cuttin, I'm a modest man, I don't need to prove that to anyone. You can either take my word for it or not. All that know me know me to be as such. What should I do instead? Say I'm okay, hell know, I'm the best I can be which isn't nearly as good as most. That's that. I'm not responding to any more personal questions or attacks. Job based only and that's that. I'm sure y'all understand why.

Tod, knowing that I used that other tree to rig, what else would you have done different? If we were slow, that's on me not my ground crew. Those guys worked there tails off down there. They do everyday

I coulda prolly done that job in a about a half a day, course I'm friggen amazing. Not to worry marc, keep eatin your wheaties, you'll be like me some day.

(just hopin to get the last word in)

This thread, to me, doesn't feel like a fight. It feels useful. There have been some good points here. One thing to remember is that there are some here who have been doing this for their entire lives, and others that have just begun. I keep that in my mind when I read all threads and also before I take any advice. I am always open to learn from all of you though. I think it's a mistake to not try to learn soemthing from everyone I meet (read).

The " Tree Princess" talk is something I am used to. There are some guys at work that have been using that description for a long time. It's funny to me. I even used it on Kramer before (remember Todd?

). One thing not to mistake, there have always been Tree Princesses in this industry- always! There are just less workers who have experienced the work without all of today's technology.

If I rig down the tallest tree in the world, would you give me some respect? The post started as a question about WHAT the biggest tree in Jersey was or is, not that it WAS the biggest or baddest. family is proud of what he did, he shared it, nuff said. Is there something that can be learned? Sure there is, getting the job done in an amount of time that is SAFE and efficient for you, not someone else's time frame. Are there tricks to getting it done faster? Sure, this is where you can find some, some come with experience. How long would this tree have taken me? How the hell should I know, it's a picture. What I do know is that the job was done safely so it took the right amount of time for the crew that was there.

Marc just to be clear I wasn't attacking you.
Two (or ten) people should be able to converse without personally attacking each other. I know we all are guilty of it but this was not one of those times.

I thought that's what we are supposed to do? A salesman or the owner goes out he looks at the job puts a price on it this in trun puts a time limit on it. He says his Boss got 4g to do it and if 2g is his day rate he did it in 2 days good job right on sched.

If he got 4g why not crane rental? Maybe he just wanted to give the guys 2 days instead? Was there a bonus offered?

My post was about him making a comment on even a seasoned vet could not of did the job in one day. I say don't say things like that till you've seen others work. Not sure about other but I can pretty much tell how long a job will take with afew pic. I'm sure there is quite afew here that can too. I seen it was tight to house, lots of small bushes, fences, also seen some open ground in spots. This is where the vets and old schoolers shines, the bag of tricks is much larger than a young climber. This is where no book, test, or class will make you better, just plain experince of doing day in and day out.

Now as I said before nice job, just don't be writting checks you can't cash.

We can start a new thread! "NAME THAT TAKE DOWN", where contestants will be shown pics of a tree and the surrounding environment and say how long it'll take them to get it down. Like the old game show "Name that Tune".

So, all answers must start with the line, "I can take that tree down in (insert your time here) weeks/days/hours/minutes/seconds!

wow touchie topic. my point of view on this is as follows.
every tree is different there are no two the same so putting two climbers side by side isnt gonna happen. is it possiable that a seasoned man could have done it faster im gonna say probally. but that doesnt take anything away from the person that did it.it has been true in form that most tree guys get cocky it comes with the trade.most people tend to refrain from this as the yrs go by. others get cocky way before there time witch isnt good they get to the point where they think they know it all.then they are only hurting themselves. because one is never to good or to old to learn. ive been doing this all my life and went to a class of marks and guess what i learned that there is a hell of alot easier ways now then the traditional rope and saddle. (witch i believe everyone should learn first) what do you do if you forget something or something breaks go home or run and buy one. hey if thats what you need to great. needless to say i spent some bucks on this modern way definitely easier on the body. read my signature phrase meaning learn from everyone use what suits you.keep it safe

this thread is geting boring but i reckon i could of done that whole job with my pole saw and not the power one, even grind the stump with it too, before smoko!

Yeah it’s quite obvious that just about anybody can talk a tree down. Some think with super human strength or speed. These kids come out here and type cause they feel good about themselves witch they should. They look for advice maybe even an occasional good job. Instead they get wise cracks and I could have done it a lot faster crap. Joking is all good as long as it is known that’s the case. We all had to start somewhere, well maybe not .some people think they were born with a 020 in their hand. Anyway I think we should give credit where credits do. I say good job and keep up the good work and pay attention and learn from your mistakes and always try to be at least two or three cuts ahead of yourself. Most of all don’t cut corners learn the basics first. Then build from there. Well let’s see how I get smashed for this one. Good luck keep it safe
