lanyard insanity

Would anyone use something like the B Squeeze for treework?

No thanks Tom, I use a pole choker at work and it's a pain.
There are adjustment problems when on the stick and bypass problems where you need a separate strap.
I'll gladly break the rules if they ever bring that into tree work.

Judging from that youtube training video where the guy falls off his gaffs it seems like something like a pole choking add-on might be a good idea for a lanyard... but that "Buck-Squeeze" thing looks awful klunky...

Heres 2 pics Ill get better ones when someone else can hold the camera
1rst is adjustable friction saver

The vision that I have for an arbo friendly choking lanyard would take that tail off the monkey tail and put it on your lanyard.

Having two attachments does have the benefit of redundancy if the climber was cutting as they moved up. For movement a choking lanyard seems to have merit. It's easier to take off the choker or give it slack than when using another wrap with the primary lanyard.

Mark, do you find 1 system better than the other? Limitations of each? Just for rescue reasons, I like the adjustable FS.

The adjustable FS is actually a little easier to move up the tree since it is stiffer. It would make for an easier AR also so now you mention that it is probably better. I say this because the climbers weight is on 2 parts of rope vs. the monkey tail which the knot and 1 part of rope caries all the weight. Also the FS set up might be more familiar to a climber at this point.

The monkey tail is less weight and easier to stow when not in use.

An adjustable lanyard clipped onto itself with a screwlink?
