After so many tales of webbing woe....I wanted to see if directly tieing the ascender to the boot laces would work, not many complain about boot laces wearing out

Well spotted on the 'chicago screw'
That would be a winner with some thread lock, there is also a recess at the back of the unit to accept the head of that screw.

Well you could, but the leather would give in time, because of water and dirt.
No one has mentioned the boot laces yet.
Thought the mods might say something.
Its 3mm race dyneema core with an mbs of 600kgs, I have alot of this size rope with kevlar and vectran cores all ranging from 300kgs > 600kgs.
Why not just sew it straight to your boot.

I did some reasearch on 'chicago screws' other names are 'interscrews' and 'binding screws'
Glad that it was a start, I knew the screws, but no idea of a name, lots of 6mm x 20mm available, which is the size for the kong.
