I went to the PA eastern TCC and talked to a climber after he finished the work climb. He was using a friction hitch that was a variation of the knut, i can't remember what he called it or exactly how it was tied.
I'm wondering if any guys use a variation of the knut or know a name of a hitch that is a variation of the knut. I'll try and get pictures of how i think he tied it soon.
For a quick description of how it was tied:
Take four turns around the climbing line, then three twists (braids) around itself, finish with a half hitch on the line with the longer of the two legs of friction cord, through the last turn of the twist. (confusing i know, its the best i could describe) Hope that description helps someone, help me.
Climb safe, i appreciate any and all help.
p.s. It was a lot of fun watching and learning at the competition. Worth anyones time and travel.
