Re: Pictures of Arbor-X K-boom.

It is a real nice rig. I guess this year we'll have them all year and finally reap the benefits. Its nice to finally have a project like this done. You must feel lighter with the build stess gone.

Re: Pictures of Arbor-X K-boom.

Oak log being loaded with grapple.

Many k-boom manufacturers wouldn't supply hydraulic lines past a 55 foot boom. Palfinger did on my 69' 3" boom.

They originally did say I could use the "chain" type of hydraulic hose (which i thought i wanted), later, they said I couldn't because it would add too much weight. So I've got the reels. I probably would have bent up the chain rails by now, so the reels might be best for tree work after all.

Re: Pictures of Arbor-X K-boom.

yes sir allmark, looking forward to the busy season in 2008. shame i didn't get it in the spring 2007 as I had it planned. International is to blame. If I make it through this winter financially, it'll be good times. :)

Thanks Blaster, put them on myself.

I do still have the cab protector left to do, the good heavy duty log box bed with removal chip top, the toolboxes and block storage areas to do..... But, all that has to wait for more income to be coming in first.

Re: Pictures of Arbor-X K-boom.

picture looking down on the truck, from my view on the end of the boom. I think fully extended here...

Re: Pictures of Arbor-X K-boom.

last picture for now. i have about 10 more i picked out to post, do it later: big oak removal in snow, holly trimming, picks over houses, etc...

this picture, good view from far away, showing height with man-basket compared to a huge Silver Maple.

Maple needed multiple cables.

Re: Pictures of Arbor-X K-boom.

Awesome pictures!Nice to see the pictures of it in action after that long delay with the cab and chassis.

Re: Pictures of Arbor-X K-boom.

awesome pics!!! Liek the Palfinger booms also, fro mwhat I've seen of them on there website. Must be nice to have that roll-off bed also. Can't wait to see some more pics with the new bed and boxxes!!!

Also, do you mind if I ask the price of the whole rig. You may have mentioned it before but I haven't been able to read everything. If you don't want to mention it on here, then you can PM me. Thanks alot.

Re: Pictures of Arbor-X K-boom.

Also, that AOS sounds great!! It would seem so simple for other companies to do the same thing. Sort of reminds me of flying a helicopter in Flight Simulator (microsoft). When using the rudder for a turn, you gently move it the other way to stop spinning and head in the right direction. Can't wait to see more pics!!!

Re: Pictures of Arbor-X K-boom.

Be careful with loading logs above the stakes. I believe federal DOT requires that the stakes be higher than the midpoint of the log stacked along the stake. In Pa. where I am they require the stakes to be taller than all the logs on the truck. I don't know about Md. but here in Pa. they are very aggresive with truck checkpoints.

Re: Pictures of Arbor-X K-boom.

hey thanks guys.

brushbandit, i didn't know that, i bet MD is the same or worse, so I'll keep that in mind.

hard to know all the DOT stuff, i think they could find something wrong with every truck if they want to.

i don't mind mentioning the amount. when you here it, you'll think it's too much, but it's really not, costs were really keep down as much as possible. (well, with buying things new.)

2008 7600 Inter truck with CAT c13 and lots of options.
palfinger 29002 k-boom
AOS option
4 outriggers
radio remote, with start truck function, auto rpm func, hydraulic tool function lock, battery charger and spare battery.
palift 40,000lb hooklift. painted red too.
kinshoffer (sp.) grapple
1 new flatbed, made very thin...
2 military heavy duty flatbeds, $2000 each.
palfinger man-basket.
steerable lift axle. certification too.

All this adds to about $280,000.

Getting some custom outriggers pads built now. $400, $500?

Need to have the heavy duty log box with removal chip top built still. On one of the military beds. I'm guessing it'll be $8000 to 13,000. Built right. I'm thinking with a pocket for the grapple.

Need to have the cab protector built. $1000? $1500?

Buy some hydraulic tools... Pole pruner, pole saw...

Going to have the light duty flat bed built into a light chip box. that way I'll have two chip boxes. $2000 to $4000 maybe? Would be nice to have the option to leave one chip box on the ground with the chipper filling it while the truck was dumping the other. On big clearing jobs, that is....

With the hooklift, I can always create more beds or chip boxes, or dumpsters, spray rig?, water tanker, whatever....

Re: Pictures of Arbor-X K-boom.

shearing three holly trees. used the boom for tie in point and moving me around. worked nicer than basket, because I could drop down on the back-side and do the whole tree from one truck position. Just had to be careful about letting old blood build up in my legs. Definitely could have been a problem if I hadn't read about the dangers of this on TREEBUZZ and how to protect yourself against it!. I still felt some of the effects of that bad blood, yuck, makes ya feel sick as it's coming back.

Re: Pictures of Arbor-X K-boom.

I like this picture.

Removed some hollow leaders from a very old large sugar maple.

this picture shows k-boom setting one out to the chipper. nice zoomed out picture.

Re: Pictures of Arbor-X K-boom.

decent size red maple removal in a backyard. here's one of the leaders being taken out to the street, to the chipper. most pictures too dark on this cloudy day.
