Yes, but they were moving the cable in an arc. That would not sever a human. What I was saying is that the combine force of direct impact and inertia(the rest of the rope), would be more than sufficient to hurt you by simply falling from a tree,ie. pulling you're rope down at the end of a climb. I've been hit, you've been hit, I'm pretty sure that goes for all of us here. It's one of the first lessons any tree guy learns, DON'T stand near a tense rope! Hope this clears up what I was trying to say. Next time I'll supply a technical manual.
