That subject title should get lots of hits :) lol...but actually it's very relevant to my question...

What is the best way to eradicate, kill, annihilate, extirpate, guess you get the point, root sucker growth after the tree is removed and even a year later when sprouts start poping up through the lawn. It is a serious question, I'm just having fun with it. I have a customer who has asked me to remove a stump that is sprouting suckers around it and I don't want them coming back after I leave the job.

Thanks,
Ken

the standard ways of course!

top three in my arsenal are grinding the stump out and when that isn't an option apply a registered killer and when that isn't an option tell the customer to cut any leaf baring suckers when they mow the lawn.

If it is likely to sprout from roots (not just the root crown) I would consider prestumping treatment with garlon or turboprop. These sprayed on leaves and all exposed bark may stop sprouting. Mix either with canola oil at 1:3 herbicide:oil by volume.

One correction oil and herbicide for application to bark and stump, regular water and herbicde (at the label rate) for leaves.

After I grind a stump that shows the signs of suckers.I dig the top of the root system pour a produce called (STUMP-NOT) drills some holes in top of the root system pour this produce in the holes eats holes in the wood fiber so it can take on a burning fuel but I never use fuel.Been doing this for 4yrs haven't had anyone call yet.Cheap an easy if you can't get your hands on a sprayer!
