kids climbing system

Been here a while
So, my son is 6 and weighs just over 50 lb. I am getting him a new tribe twist (if anyone has feedback on that I'd love to hear it) and am wondering what the best friction sytem for him is. Before when he was in a full body harness I just used a blakes hitch, simple as possible. Now I wonder if there would be an easier system for him to manage himself. What is everybody else doing for little climbers?

I've taken my nieces on Unicenders. They both started on DdRT using various friction hitches. After climbing SRT they both agreed that SRT was much easier...and more fun.

Use what you use. Rather than having some sort of barrier or difference they will likely gain confidence in themselves knowing that they get to climb using the same configurations as the pros.

I agree on the uni. I started my nephew on a uni sometime in the 4's. No slack or sitback to manage in drt for him. The downside was having him understand that he couldn't just pull the rack together to descend or he'd end up down on the previous stopper.

He figured it out and descended by taking a wrap over the uni.

I'm guessing you don't want to get your 6 year old a $250 piece of hardware to rec climb though.. :)

I'd try a hitch climber in an O rig setup. It's similar in function and if he's already got the blakes down put him on a michoican and send him on his way!
