Kask visors

I bought Protos glasses for my new protos lid. They are great. I use them for cuts above head, or when my bar is sending sawdust at me. The mesh faceshield is fogless, of course, and I'm not too concerned about getting pitch on it (never noticed pitch on it...). When I'm done cutting, I push the glasses up into the lid. Since my glasses are only deployed during the cut, they do not have time to fog up. I live in Florida, so there is generally high humidity in the air. The glasses do not get scratched because the mesh or the lid are protecting them. I do not drop them to the ground (saw a glasses dropped dq in comp climbing two years ago, and of course it's also bad to drop eye pro while actually working...). If the glasses get a smudge, I can just not wear them. It's usually pretty easy to work through a smudge. Shortly after I started using them, I became adept at raising and lowering them without smudging them. The Protos eyewear system has become the main reason I prefer the Protos helmet. I think the Kask helmet is great, so please don't misread me. I just really like the Protos eyewear system.
We like ours also but $60 a little pricey

Everyone is different, but I don't even think about 60 dollars for sunglasses that I pretty much just wear driving and walking the dog. Compare that to my safety glasses, which I wear for hundreds of hours, and which keep my eyeballs safe, and which are always perfectly attached to my helmet where they will never be lost or hard to reach, makes for a pretty easy thing to spend on. You couldn't pay me 60 bucks to give them back, that's for damn sure.

Agree 100%. I never skimp on tools or safety products, top of the line every time. I'm happy to pay for the best, because no matter the cost, when you break it down to price-per-day of use, it works out to pennies over the lifetime of the item.

I agree you get what you pay for but I’ve changed over to $15 safety glasses when I purchase a case and they are great

and when they get scratched or new guy shows up it’s better than handing out $60 glasses

I hear that. We give all employees safety glasses and offer to discount visors if ths want them instead.

Ive had mine(smoke) for about 6 months or so, i have no trouble with it fogging up, just pitch is the problem.. some times ill take some paper towels and and squirt some windshield washer fluid on it and give it a scrub. Doesnt take it all off but certainly makes it much better.. i suppose i could take it off and run it under some hot soapy water but i never think of that until i flip it down! .

Does the smoke one offer you any type of sunglasses feeling in the sun at all? Just curious the mirror tint just look super bad ass but I’m wondering if their gonna help with glare and what not.

Oh yeah, for sure.. but its not to dark..seems ro be enough for me. i don't wear sunglasses under them and i think its ok, the mirror tint is badass, i bought my helmet on ebay, it came with the smoke visor and muffs, buf they didnt have an option for the mirror or thats the one would have got..

Not sure if the mirror one is a little darker or not ?

I’ve got the “mirror” version (see my avi) as they call it so it also offers some sunlight protection. If it’s sunny the visor itself without sunglasses is adequate enough and on days where it’s cloudy or not as bright I haven’t found it’s too dark to the point it hinders my ability to see properly.

I usually don’t have any issues with anything getting in my face or eyes if I have it flipped down. I also wear a gaiter up over my mouth and nose when cutting (as seen in avi) so my entire face / eyes are protected when cutting.

I used to have a helmet that had the full face mesh visor, the only thing I noticed about that is sometimes it can get in the way in tight spaces. With the Kask the visor doesn’t actually stick out and get in the way of anything.

Occasionally I have worn sunglasses in the tree and sometimes put the visor down over them.
