jonsered 445

It's a 455; I can't seem to read. It's been in hard use for two years. I was using it the other day in triple digit heat when it started to run slower and slower and began to spit fire out the exaust. I've haven't burnt a saw up since 1980 (and don't even remember what it was like) when I was using a special oil that was mixed 100:1; don't ever try it no matter what they tell you. I remember it had great power for a couple of weeks.

Anyway, I can't get this little thing to run anymore except in little fluttering spurts since. I expected the thing to be scored but it looks great in there and the compression feels normal.

Unrelated, (I think); since I lost that saw years ago I have always mixed my oil at 25:1 no matter what I was running it in and no matter what people and manuals told me. I've been told that I would have a great buildup of carbon if I didn't run 50:1 but this piston is clean on top and has a delighful film of oil on it's sides. FWIW.

When it started slowing down & spitting fire I thought my sins had caught up with me and it had some kind of chimney fire going on in there with all the carbon I had built up, but I guess not; the muffler is as clean as can be.

I got it fixed; the back end of the switch was loose and seems to have been shorting the out mag. Isn't there is always something new around every cornor?

One would have to be a chemist to know if there is any thing more to name brand oil than the name and I am not one; I'm just an uneducated tree cutter.

should I pay 10-12, or whatever it costs, a gallon for stihl bar oil also because it makes the chain cut ???% faster and keeps the world more...? Green, better for Stihl shareholders, which?

How did you know where I buy my stuff?

We arent talking about bar oil, at least I am not. I dont mix my bar oil @ 50:1, I use it straight up. Not sure where the confusion came from????

I have read numerous articles from major manufactuers of oil, Stihl, Husky, Mobil, Omni (makes Stihls oils), Pennzoil (used to make Husky's oils). The proof of lubricity is there. A virgin oil has less contaminents and better lubing properties than reclaimed oils do. If reclaimed dino oils lubed that well F1/NASCAR racers would be using it.
