Florida Project Learning Tree Coordinator/Urban Forestry Assistant

The University of Florida, School of Forest Resources and Conservation (SFRC) is seeking a full-time, highly motivated, knowledgeable self-starter with strong organizational abilities and a commitment to public education to serve as the Florida Project Learning Tree Coordinator and to support our new Urban Forestry program.

This position will work half-time for each of two faculty members in support of their extension and research programs in Natural Resources Education and Urban Forestry. Responsibilities include serving as statewide coordinator of Project Learning Tree (PLT) and supporting development and implementation of a new research and extension program oriented around urban forests in Florida. The incumbent will develop, coordinate and maintain extension programs.

As Florida Project Learning Tree Coordinator, duties include: Maintain and support a state-wide network of facilitators and stakeholders who deliver PLT programs; write funding proposals; track budgets; develop reports; create programs; and evaluate elements of the program.

As Urban Forestry Assistant, duties include: Conduct measurements; analyze data; prepare reports; and evaluate extension programs in urban forestry.

Minimum Requirements:
A master’s degree in an appropriate area of specialization; or a bachelor’s degree in the same and two years of related experience. A current Florida driver’s license is also required as travel is a necessity of this position.

Preferred Qualifications:
A degree in a natural resources or education field strongly preferred. Knowledge and experience with forest systems, applied research, environmental education, education reform, volunteer management and competency in general computer applications desired. The willingness and ability to travel for meetings, conferences and data collection are essential.

Salary and Benefits:
Expected starting salary range is $38,000.00 - $40,000.00 annually plus comprehensive benefits and a generous leave package. For additional information, visit www.hr.ufl.edu/benefits.
