This has gone on too long. In the words of Dave Barry:

You can only be young once. But you can always be immature.

Oh and~
The bucket stops at 55 ft but the BUCK stops at the next capable, talented climber.

we just hired 2 Newbies, great attitude and work ethic! I supervised then in the removal of 3 NF Pines ( so they could get the feel of gafs) and they both did great! Knees were not shakeing and no freaking out! One of the guy's even notched and dropped the top out at about 55ft!!!!!!!!!! Must have been the instructor /forum/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

Just read thru the post. Sorry you can not get anybody, but the one thing I found strange is that you paid some kid $10 and hour to do basic stuff but you will not pay for a good worker; once you find them of course. I do not know just my thoughts. On another note how is that chipper running???

PMKing, i actually have three guys working for me now that i have no problem paying them well.
the problem i had was with this one guy wanting top dollar for a day rate.
he wanted to be paid cash, no taxes taken out. try and carry comp insurance that way. he wanted to work for me when he wasn't working for another service. he works as a sub, but has no liability insurance. he isn't a cert arborist.
with all that said, would you pay for this guy?
i actually used him for a while. when working,he was reckless at times. he also tried to go too fast, which put everybody and everything in harms way.
stltreeclbr, are you going to the tcc in june? tornado work must be nasty work too.
