Dude! I’ve had two sort of but not really serious Silky bangs. First one was long ago: “Duh, don’t hold the branch close to the cut and then jump on it with the saw in aggressive mode. Boink, out of the wood onto a finger/knuckle. Great lesson with mild blood letting.
Number 2 was straight up dumb/tired a couple years ago. Knee-capped myself on follow-through, tickled the bone a bit. I’d been using Birch Polypore medicinally in various ways before that. It was in season nice and fresh so I carved out a nice rectangular “bandage” about 9mm thick and taped it over the knee with clear packing tape. Left it there for 3 days, took it off, wound clean as a whistle, completely closed tight/healed, zero inflammation. I keep birch polypore (gathered fresh and most potent) in the freezer so it is available year-round.
