ISC 5/8" SM Rigging Block

ISC 5/8\" SM Rigging Block

I am selling an ISC 5/8" small rigging block with a 3/4"x8' Double Braid dead eye sling. I believe the sling is Yale Double Esterlon. Both are in very nice condition. I am asking $125 including shipping to the lower 48 states.

Re: ISC 5/8\" SM Rigging Block

Very nice set but if I'm not mistaken it's important to match the sling size to the spindle size on the block because of a spread hazard. In this case I think the appropriate sling diameter is 5/8". Anyone? I've had that very block for many years and have always been happy with it.

Re: ISC 5/8\" SM Rigging Block

I've been running 3/4" tenex on a 5/8 block for years. No wear or problems. But I've heard the same.

Re: ISC 5/8\" SM Rigging Block

I believe that applies more to the rope running through the sheave. I also believe in most cases the the spindle is set up to take a slightly larger diameter sling. Could be wrong though.

Re: ISC 5/8\" SM Rigging Block

Block is sold pending payment.

The upper sheave on this block is designed to accept a 3/4" sling. Most that I know of allow the sling to be at least one size larger than the max rope diameter to allow proper working loads limits since the sling can see twice the load of the rigging rope.

Re: ISC 5/8\" SM Rigging Block

This is a mildly embarrassing game changer because I always thought you must match the sling diameter with the hardware and rigging line. A closer look at any one of the blocks I own makes it clear that their spindles accept a larger sling. This afternoon I was rummaging through some gear and came across a brand new Tenex 3/4" sling. Dude it's a 25 footer and it's never been used. Rich made it so it had a chafe sleeve on it. I reluctantly cut it off and put it on a 5/8" Impact block? Perfect. I saw dollar signs! Thanks a lot!
