Nope, only know SRT, wanna learn DdRT for work positioning but it's low on "training priorities"
Have just never really gotten the need for a Wrench, I think it's an artifact of me being so small (140lbs) using slick ropes because I've never had desire to get it, my hitch bites when I lean into it and when I pull upward it goes upward (once I began using hitches besides prussiks, and the micropulley, my hitch just slides up the rope even if I was just sitting-back on the hitch!)
I'd love to try one, maybe I'd change my mind then, but if its sole use is "hitch moves smoother" (and/or "helps precision on descent") then both of those are beyond 'not broken/don't fix' in my setup![]()
Ok, just wanted to clarify what system you were climbing on.
I weigh less than you ;-) The problem with a hitch only in SRT (SRS as it's called lately) is that it seizes up on the rope for descent, doesn't matter what your weight is. Rope Wrench is the revolution that solved that problem, thx K. Bingham!
For sure ascending SRS with hitch only is very effective.
What you describe is the absolute requirent for hitch use SRS whether hitch only or paired with a Rope Wrench. It has to grab when you sit back and it has to slide when you move up from a sit back.
