This is a Tree-Of-Heaven I stitched up yesterday at work. My department head wanted to keep it...

That's the first I've heard of anybody ever wanting to save an Ailanthus... but hey, it's a tree. Nice work with the rods. It would be interesting to follow it year to year to see how it does. Seems to have a large decay column, was it topped or broken at some point?
 
Yeah, probably broken. Lots of construction-itis here.

We actually don't have many of these on campus so I can kind of see the point...

In truth, I'd really like to sideload it and make it fail now, just to see what happens with the rods!!! I'll be sure to post the pictures.

This is a bridge grafted Pinus armandii. You can see the old original stem severed on the left.
