Intentional Barber Chair

Daniel being the charlatan that he is has now resorted to blocking/deleting youtube comments that he feels don't portray him in a positive light.

The sign of greatness is unwillingness for others to question a person.

His dominating techniques speak for themselves.

Sign up for class, now!
Oh Yea! The 2019 Murphman Barber-Chair Master-Class is gonna be fucking phenomenal, and I'm really looking forward to finally meeting some of you folks in person. Better get your tickets while you still can....

I don’t get it I’ve only had one nasty B.C. while being the one holding the saw. I’ve had many start to barber chair on me. I’ve been doing wrong all these years

I think the barberchair made the tips of the tree hit the lawn at a steeper angle causing more damage than just using a notch low on the stem. He said that was not a lot of damage to the lawn? He keeps saying he doesn't recommend this crap but then tries to make it sound like there is a purpose to this shit. Experiment once and move on, but he keeps making these videos. He acts and talks like he is on the cutting edge, some kind of visionary. He says this keeps the stem off the ground causing less damage, but I would like to see the clean up video where he just crashes the stem on all the shit he says the BC this protecting. Is this joker really explaining how he had to cut the log up, about tension and compression and to not pinch the bar. He keeps saying its a huge tree, he would shit a puppy if he came out to the west coast.

Hey, evo! Could you tell me what you did to stop the barber chairs that were in progress? Was it just a matter of cutting faster to finish the back cut? Thanks in advance.

Tim

Visionary...come on, Messiah.

The simplest way to prevent a barberchair, and make a tree go predictably to the lay, is a chain with a couple medium/ long wedges pounded down between tree and chain (already on hand for felling, but not needed for this scenario because BC prone trees are leaning). No screwing around with, or damaging chain binders under the butt (its leaning, so irregularly shaped, so it will probably bounce funny). Wedges work better on small stems than wider chain binders.

Don't cut right into the lean if you're wanting to be safer.

Basically what Southsound said, prevention measures. The stem might crack a bit, and I’m guessing that the backups never had a chance to get tested.

Bore cuts sometimes

Staying in the cut and “chasing” the cracking stem. If the saw is up to snuff.

The biggest mistake in this newest video is making some messed up cuts, loitering around the stump looking for the best photo op, and allowing the stem to barber chair. Dude got lucky.

When felling with a short bar always cut plenty of wood to the side you want the stick to swing to first! This way you can stay at the fat side of the hinge and lay into it hard.

Daniel claims he used "a modified Coos Bay". Fucking please. That cut had zero resemblance to a proper Coos Bay. Daniel was simply hacking at a tree like a drunk blind beaver until it fell over. Thats what hacks do after all. Hack is as hack does!!

A Coos Bay can be extremely useful on hard leaners in which you are worried about a barber chair. Boring/gutting the center of your hinge can also work well if a little discretion is used. Strapping up your would is never a bad idea. No matter what when one is worried about the possibility of a barber chair you need to realized that you must stand tough in the pocket and get after that back-cut. No time for pulling out early and running like a scared pussy.

That loose-cannon dropped spar bounding around in the street looks like a good way to get a fat lip!

I bet his insurance carrier would be RIVETED by his YouTube channel!
