I'm sure this has been discussed before, but what methods and supplies have others found to work good for tree swings?

I've done one with cobra but I keep thinking of how I could have made it better with the same cobra materials.

Any tree swing pros out there?

We did a tire swing for a client once and just used an eye bolt that went through the limb and anchored it with a washer and nut. I think it sure beats the constant rubbing.

You could always run like a friction saver or like a sling with a ring on one end to choke off to the branch. That way it would not be invasive into the branch and would not rub as much since it wouldn't be moving over the branch. Plus if the branch grew there could be room for adjustment where it would slide in order for it not to choke out the branch.

My father has done numerous tree swings over the years in the sue city capital of the world, New Jersey. We have never had any complaints or lawsuits. Just make sure the limb is large enough to support some weight. Use good judgement and you'll be fine.

what do you guys think about using the cobra plastic insert under the rope and then the sheeth around the whole thing?

So the friction would be on the plastic insert?

Just did a swing last week with 1/2 inch three strand polyester 5000 tensile strenght and eye spliced the seat to the rope. up in the tree I secured it with a clove hgitch with two half hitches then secured it to another limb incase the first limb breaks... I thought it looked good and was safe...

Not a pro but this worked for this tire swing. I have it anchored around the stem.
