I\'m an addict....

So it all started about a week ago. I got a request from a customer to install a rope swing for his kids. After discussing it, I figured a rope stretched between two trees would be the best option. He wanted it to look clean so a splice was the only option.

Time to learn! Here is my first attempt at a double braid eye splice(s). Turned out good, I think. The rope is Sta-set spliced to a SS 3/8 ring. He was pleased, to say the least!

So why stop there? Here is my next three splices I did yesterday. The ivy was a breeze.... the velocity? Not so much. So what do 'yall think?

You know you are an addict when... You go to the arborist store (or order) to get a rope... Not because you need it but to splice it. But it is fun. Happy splicing

Hey Justin, those splices look nice and smooooooth !! Well done, especially for early attempts. Now step up to the plate and try some Tachyon !!

Thanks Rich, that means a lot coming from you! I still remember the first splice I ever witnessed back at your old shop in Euclid.

Is tachyon that much different that other double braids? I was under the impression that once you snip the 2nd core short, the splice is performed the same.

Turns out I will get to try it soon enough, my buddy is getting ready to order some this week.

I've been thinking about trying the rocket line too. Does anyone have time on this rope?

Rocket line is fantastic stuff, my experience with it over the past couple if weeks has been very positive.

That rope is quite firm from what I noticed. It almost is like a static rope, I haven't experienced much stretch on it which I like.

Right now I have a 150 of this at camp and will be climbing on it all week. So far so good. I really recommend it. It is certainly one of my favorite ropes!

Thats good to hear, John. I was thinking of making a trip up to see you sometime soon, so maybe I will pick some up while I'm there

I have rocket that Nick milked out and spliced both ends, it is a great rope! I swap ends each climb, and it hasn't milked, it is a real good, firm rope.
